1 Consideration of the Legislative Consent Memorandum - Modern Slavery Bill
1.1 The Committee considered the Legislative Consent Memorandum - Modern Slavery Bill.
2 Introductions, apologies and substitutions
2.1 The Chair welcomed Members and members of the public to the meeting
2.2 Apologies for absence were received from Gwenda Thomas AM. There was no substitute.
3 Inquiry into Poverty in Wales (Strand 1) - evidence session 4: Children's organisations
3.1 The Committee received evidence from:
- Mary Powell-Chandler, Save the Children
- Dr Sam Clutton, Barnardo’s Cymru on behalf of End Child Poverty Network (ECPN)
- Catriona Williams, Children in Wales End Child Poverty Network Cymru and Commissioner on the UK Social Mobility Child.
3.2 Catriona Williams agreed to provide the following:
- examples of work from the UK Social Mobility Child Poverty Commission on areas in relation to child poverty, including the living wage.
- a copy of the report on the working realities of people who have gone to Assembly Member and MP surgeries, which includes issues such as shift patterns, childcare and pay progression.
4 Inquiry into Poverty in Wales (Strand 1) - evidence session 5: Women's organisations
4.1 The Committee received evidence from:
- Miriam Merkova, Changing Lives
- Natasha Davies, Chwarae Teg
- Christine O’Byrne, Chwarae Teg.
4.2 Chwarae Teg agreed to provide the figures of the number of women affected by their Agile Nation project, including for the south east region.
5 Inquiry into Poverty in Wales (Strand 1) - evidence session 6: The Trussell Trust
5.1 The Committee received evidence from Tony Graham and Adrian Curtis, The Trussell Trust.
5.2 The Trussell Trust agreed to provide a copy of their report on the devolution of the welfare system.
6 Papers to note
6.1 The Committee noted the papers.
7 Motion under Standing Order 17.42 to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting and from item 1 of the meeting on 3 December 2014 (further consideration of the LCM for the Modern Slavery Bill)
7.1 The Committee agreed the motion to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting.
